THE COTTON ON FOUNDATION HANDBURY CLASSIC

The Handbury Classic at the Torquay Sands will be staged next April 2010 with Cotton On Foundation taking the naming rights for the corporate golf day event. Paddy Handbury is donating all proceeds from the day to Rainbow Riders. Brian Nankervis from SBS TV show Rock Wiz will host the gourmet luncheon with over 100 golfers taking part. Many sporting celebrities and identities are taking part in the day and we will keep you posted as we get closer to the event on Friday 16th April. OPEN DAY - THE HORSE’S BIRTHDAY 1ST August 09

Rainbow Rider’s are having an OPEN DAY to celebrate the horses birthday and the 150th Birthday of the Geelong Cats.

Saturday 1st August 2009 10am to 12 noon at the Rainbow Riders Farm, 930 Barwon Heads Rd, Connewarre.

We will be opening our new portable recreation room kindly donated by United Way, The Glover and the Dawn Wade Trusts.

The family day will include pony rides, bouncy castle, wagon rides, Auskick footy in the paddock, Barista Coffee and Sausage Sizzle.

A $10 donation per car at the gate with a gate prize of a signed 2009 Geelong Cats football drawn on the day as the Gate prize.

Put your kids in their old clothes and come down for a morning of family fun at the farm and help disadvantaged Geelong kids at the same time!

The R. E. Ross trust has granted a $75,000 grant to Rainbow Riders over a three year period to help the charity achieve financial sustainability into the future. Thank you to all at the Ross Trust who choose Rainbow Riders as a worthy cause.

Gary Ablett Jnr & The Geelong Cats helping at Rainbow Riders

The United Way and the Geelong Cats Sports Charity program has been announced for 2009 and The Cats and Gary Ablett Junior are both adding their support to helping the Rainbow Riders cause. There will be player appearances at the farm to brighten up the kids and have some fun as well as events such as a day at Adventure Park with the players. GO CATS!!!

Daryl Braithwaite 70’s Endless Summer Party

The 70’s fundraiser at Rainbow Riders on January 17th raised just under $20,000 to help disadvantaged young people in the Geelong Area. The party was a hit with Daryl Braithwaite getting the whole crowd singing his hit “The Horses” and having everyone up dancing. The best dressed for the night was “Stroop” from the Paul Hogan show with special mention to Robert Doyle, the Lord Major of Melbourne for his floor length 70’s kaftan, wig and mo. The crowd was very well decked out in 70’s gear and it was a great night one to mark on the calendar for next year as Daryl as said he would love to come back!
